August 12th is National Vinyl Record Day!

National Vinyl Record Day is dedicated to recognizing and preserving vinyl music, its culture, art, and sound. Remember when you could buy a vinyl album for a couple of bucks, and a single for less than a dollar? Whether you have a collection of vinyl or not,

. Back in 1857, the phonautograph was patented by Leon Scott. This used a stylus and vibrating diaphragm so that sound waves could be graphically recorded as tracings on sheets of paper. The phonograph was then invented by Thomas Edison in 1877. Vinyl music is back today, at 2-3 times the cost it was, when it started disappearing in the 90’s.
