May 20th is National Rescue Dog Day! How many of us look at our pets and think, “You rescued me?” A lot, right? Now imagine being an animal that actually gets rescued by a human...like YOU! National Rescue Dog Day was founded by Lisa Wiehebrink of Tails That Teach to bring awareness to the countless number of amazing dogs in shelters waiting to be adopted.
But also? To promote and encourage the spaying/neutering of animals and also humane education for young children. The day was inspired by Cooper, who was rescued in 2009 and now the main character in the “Tails That Teach” book series...which informs children about being kind and gentle to their pets. And P.S?

As emotional support companions, rescue dogs help to relieve anxiety, depression, and PTSD among the military or those who suffer from mental illness. Plus, people with autism can also benefit from services provided by trained rescue dogs.
