Today marks 45 years since Harry Chapin died

The singer/songwriter passed away on July 16, 1981 at Nassau University Medical Center

Chapin was brought there, suffering cardiac arrest, following a horrific crash on the Long Island Expressway that involved a tractor-trailer crashing into the rear of his Volkswagen Rabbit. Chapin was 38.
